White iPad mini Sold Out Within Minutes

Looks like even though the iPad mini lacks a Retina display, it’s still pretty popular. Within minutes last night, the white iPad mini in every size sold out. This isn’t very shocking, but we’re still unsure which factor played a heavy role in the increased shipping times.

Is it possible that Apple’s supply chain issues are the cause of the iPad mini shortages, or do people want it that bad. Since it’s close to the holidays, Id’ assume the latter, but it’s still hard to tell.

MacRumors noted:

Of course, its hard to tell how much of the stock out is related to high demand vs. low supply. We suspect stocks may have been low as others have noted that countries outside the U.S. listed “2 week” delivery times from the first moment the white iPad minis went on sale.

Based on that, I’d say Apple’s iPad mini suffered from supply issues. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if shipping times improve any over the coming weeks. Hopefully it doesn’t turn out like the iPhone 5 where there’s still a three to four week wait.
