Android, Apple, Google

Walter Isaacson Says War on Android Was Real

There has been a constant War on Android since it came out. Steve Jobs always insisted that Android was based on stolen ideas. Yesterday, Google CEO, Larry Page, commented on the ongoing battle during an Interview stating, that the whole “war” was “actually just for show”.

Even though we know Steve Jobs said, “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.” in the recent biography written by Walter Isaacson.

Well, Walter has come out now saying that the war is very real. Last night, while speaking at the Royal Institute, Isaacson elaborated on the hate Jobs had for Android.

Isaacson compared Steve’s feud with Google to the one Apple had with Microsoft back in the ’80s when Microsoft stole the Mac’s graphical users interface and “promiscuously” licensed it to Dell, Compac, IBM, and others that Jobs felt weren’t up to snuff. Because of that, “Microsoft ended up being dominant.”

Isaacson continued on,

“It’s almost copied verbatim by Android. And then they license it around promiscuously. And then Android starts surpassing Apple in market share, and this totally infuriated him. It wasn’t a matter of money. He said: ‘You can’t pay me off, I’m here to destroy you’.”

But most people including Isaacson, think things will be different with Tim Cook, “Tim Cook will settle that lawsuit,” he said. I’d much rather see Android be destroyed, but it’s a necessary evil I think.

So watch out Google, looks like Apple’s war is very real. The second you turn your back, they may pounce.

When will the madness stop?
