The Raspberry Pi Budget Computer can use Airplay to Stream From Apple Devices

The Raspberry Pi budget computer main board is now able to handle AirPlay content from iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. The Raspberry Pi, for those of you that do not know, is a little computer about the size of a credit card containing an HDMI port that connects to your Television. It’s a fully capable computer but also carries the added bonus of being able to play back high definition video; thanks to its Videocore 4 GPU. The GPU uses H.264 at 40MBits/s, which is capable of Blu-Ray quality playback.

The Raspberry Pi is already being produced and is expected to be accessible internationally in two different models, one with 10/100 Ethernet and a second without. Probably the most intriguing aspect of the project is the cost. The standard model will set you back just $25 while the model including Ethernet will cost just around $35.

The Raspberry Pi was initially geared towards computer enthusiasts however given that AirPlay has been demonstrated along with a port of XBMC, this tiny computer could very well have a large role to perform in future home entertainment center solutions as well.
