iPad

“the new iPad” is Called iPad for a Reason.

Most of us were baffled and confused about why Apple decided to stop naming their popular tablet with a number.

Well, while some of us may disagree with it, I personally don’t care.

It’s an iPad that’s what it was and that’s what it will always be. Yes speculation is great, and this does take away from that portion of rumors and curiosity in regards to future releases; but does it really matter? At the end of the day all we really want is a functional device.

Apple is more than concerned with this topic than anything else. Providing the consumer (us), with a fully functional device that exceeds our expectations and satisfies our urge for mobile computing.

The Wall Street Journal had the opportunity to ask Apple why they chose such a simple name like “iPad”,

The company didn’t provide a detailed explanation. Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of world-wide marketing, simply said that Apple broke from the convention “because we don’t want to be predictable.”

This solidifies what has been my prediction all along, they just need to keep relevant. Not because they are hurting for money, but because they are marketing geniuses. Now there won’t be numbers, just names. It’s very simple. And as much as it may seem like Apple is breaking patterns left and right, this isn’t a stray strategy they came up with in the break room. Apple has had simple names for a long while.

Look at the iMac for example, or even the MacBook Pro. These names have been simple and straight forward since the beginning. No numbers or insignificant “S’s” at the end. Just names and model numbers to keep track of inventory. (Though I bet people will focus a lot more on inventory naming rumors going forward.”

So now we can expect a “new iPhone” coming out. Which as of now is rumored to have 4G LTE also. I say this because Apple just opened that door on the iPad unveiling today.

Anyone ready for a “new iPhone”?
