Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO – Latest Apple News

As the launch of the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 draws near, Steve Jobs CEO of Apple submits his resignation to the Board. This came as a shock to many but with some ongoing concern for Steve’s health this is probably for his own personal best. The one question that I am concerned with it, Will Apple’s direction change now that Steve is gone for good? Highly unlikely, seeing as he will still be serving as chairman of the board and will still be involved with Apple personally. HE just won’t be burdened by the stress he may have went through as CEO. Below is the resignation letter Steve submitted to Apple. I am sure this was no easy thing for him to do as Apple is more of a Love affair for Steve than a profit margin.

Steve will be missed. Plus now it won’t be the same comparing someone else to Bill Gates… Luckily Tim Cook will be serving as Steve’s replacement CEO. Tim has been there before and has taken over duties for Jobs while he was out for past health issues. This all seems to fit like a good glove so hopefully that means a solid and continually growing future for Apple. Maybe Tim is a music buff and Apple will someday release a Control DAW?? Will this news suddenly change our world of recording and mixing on Macs? That would ROCK! Anyway Check out the letter below.

“To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve”
Tim Cook will jump into his role immediately, and Steve’s long and hard work will Apple will be missed but he is GREATLY appreciated. Here’s more from Apple,

“Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company,” said Art Levinson, Chairman of Genentech, on behalf of Apple’s Board. “Steve has made countless contributions to Apple’s success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple’s immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration.”
