[Rumor] iPad Mini To Start Production In Brazil This September With A Super Thin Design

Rumors of an iPad Mini have been floating around for quite some time. It’s been said that Apple will bring a miniature iPad to market in efforts to compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire, and now Google’s Nexus 7 tablet. Now we’re beginning to see some very believable rumors surface that lead me to believe this is actually going to happen…

Big news outlets such as Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal have reported on the rumored iPad Mini, ultimately giving the rumors a bit more credibility. Now Japanese blog, Macotakara is weighing in with more possible details about this new iOS device.

According to Macotakara, the iPad Mini will take cues from the iPod Touch, being as thin as the current 4G model at only 7.2mm. That would be a big jump considering the current generation iPad is 9.4mm thick, and would also be much thinner than the Kindle Fire. An unnamed source who allegedly saw the Mini prototype says it’s as tall as Google’s Nexus 7 with a slightly larger width. The device will also include 3G technology. If Apple wants to cut down costs and keep connectivity, going with 3G is their best option.

There has also been rumors that the iPad Mini will not have a Retina display, but feature one similar to the iPad 2’s 1024×768 resolution. All these cutbacks will help Apple deliver a strong device at a $200 to $250 price range. The iPad Mini is said to be starting production in September and be ready just in time for the holidays. The production is rumored to happen in Brazil.

We may see an iPad Mini as soon as October…
