Pod2G Has “No Clue” When We’ll See Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 / A5+ Devices

You can probably stop reading now. The title basically sums it all up. Pod2G, famous for his recent Jailbreak work on the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, took to his Twitter with a disappointing message for the Jailbreak community. It’s not saying the Jailbreak will be impossible, it’s just not in the foreseeable future unless a vulnerability is found.

Now I know you may be wondering, didn’t they already Jailbreak the new iPad within hours of it’s release? The answer is yes, but it’s not exactly that easy. We’re still not all 100% sure how they were able to do it, but some say it was involving a method which requires a developer account. That’s obviously not something that can be implemented in a public tool.

To reiterate this once more, this is what Pod2G is saying:

About 5.1 jailbreak for A5+ devices: it’s not out and I have no clue when it’ll happen. I’m working some hours per week on finding vulns. [Vulnerabilities]

But right now we (cdev) have some pieces of a userland jailbreak, but we miss some, and even it we had them all, there’s weeks of work to put them all together in a public ready tool.

So they have some pieces, but not all of them. And are still in search of those which they can use to put together a public tool. These guys are up day and night working hard on finding a Jailbreak, and they do it all for the love of the game. The clostest you may get to Jailbreaking one of these devices soon is downgrading, which may be possible soon per this article we posted

There has also been trouble with Jailbreaking the new Apple TV. Seems like all A5 devices with iOS 5.1 are giving the community a lot of problems. So if you we’re waiting on being able to install some awesome Cydia Tweaks on your new iPad, you better get comfortable, it’s gonna be a while.

If you don’t have an iPad, check out our giveaway! It ends Sunday!
