[Rumor] New Retina Display MacBooks Set for WWDC Launch

A new report from Bloomberg suggests that Apple will unveil their new line of MacBooks at WWDC on June 11th. We’re not entirely sure what the exact specifications for the new MacBooks, but they should be a significant upgrade…

The new MacBooks are rumored to sport Ivy Bridge processors, Retina displays, solid-state drives, and have a thinner design. Sounds pretty tasty if you ask me. Though I’m not entirely sure about solid-state as the technology just isn’t as affordable yet. But either way Bloomberg says Apple’s gearing for a WWDC launch, which would be in a few weeks.

According to Bloomberg:

Apple Inc. is preparing a new lineup of thinner MacBook laptops running on more powerful chips made by Intel Corp., people with knowledge of the plans said.

The MacBook Pro machines, to be unveiled at Apple’s annual developers conference starting June 11, also will feature high- definition screens like those on the iPhone and iPad, as well as flash memory to cut startup times and extend battery life, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans haven’t been made public.

Bloomberg also noted:

At the developer conference, Apple also may announce the debut date of its latest Mac operating system, called Mountain Lion, one person said.

We find it odd that Apple would release a new MacBook line without an operating system refresh. That’s leads us to believe that Apple may just announce the MacBooks and set an official launch date. It seems like a big waste of time to launch an exciting new MacBook without an exciting new version of OS X.

Though this is just a rumor, Bloomberg has been a reliable source for information like this in the past. I can’t say whether or not this is true but I’d believe them over most other sources. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see what happens come June 11th at WWDC.

Either way I’m excited.
