Google Adds Street View To Web-Based Mobile Maps App

Have you been missing Google Maps since you updated to iOS 6? Google has been stepping it up with their Web-based mobile app lately. There’s almost a full Maps app replacement, and it’s totally online.

As reported by iPhoneinCanada.ca:

Our own tests with Google Street View via the Google Maps web app were very straightforward. Just load up the maps.google.com web app in mobile Safari, tap on a location and a new bottom bar emerges with an icon of a person. Tap that and voila–you have Street View, which opens up in a new tab displaying the URL maps.gstatic.com.

Google is apparently working on their own mapping solution for iOS, but until it’s completed, submitted, and (hopefully) approved, you’re stuck with Apple’s Maps app. This solution isn’t the best workaround, but it’ll give you most all of the features you loved from the Google-based maps that were taken away.

I haven’t had a problem with Apple’s Maps app yet, but many other people seem to be having issues. If you’re one of the many with problems, Google’s Web-based solution may be for you.
