Apple Is Using TomTom as Main iOS 6 Maps Provider

There’s been a lot of speculation as to where Apple would be getting their new Maps data from. OpenStreetMaps was one of the few mentioned as providing data to Apple. Now it’s all out in the open and we’ve got official confirmation that TomTom is Apple’s new Map provider.

We received the picture above from an anonymous developer that clearly shows Apple is tapping TomTom for Map data. This is interesting, but certainly give room for Apple to dominate Google in the Maps game. TomTom has been a longtime friend of iOS. They’ve had their navigation app available for iPhone since 2009. TomTom definitely has the power to backup Apple’s decision to leave Google Maps, and things can only get better.

Our source will be sending over more screenshots and videos of iOS 6 soon.

Stay thirsty my friends.
