Apple Introduces The 2012 Mac Pro

Apple announced a ton of new products and features at the WWDC 2012 keynote today, yet nothing was said about the future of their old faithful workhorse the Mac Pro, until just about a couple of hours ago when it popped up out of nowhere on Apple’s website

While the machine looks exactly the same Apple has upgraded it’s specs: 3.06GHz Intel Xeon X5675 processors, new ATI Radeon HD graphic cards, four 3.5-inch drive bays for up to 8TB of storage, and 2 SuperDrives. Dissapointing though, is the fact that Apple decided not to add Thunderbolt I/Q or USB 3.0 to the 2012 model. The upgrades are nothing huge but the Mac Pro is certainly up to date now.

The easy-access interior of the Mac Pro feels like the well-organized workstation it is. No rat’s nest of components here. You don’t need to turn the system on its side or struggle to reach into awkward spaces to make changes. Just remove the side panel for instant access to everything. Slide out the processor tray to add memory. Slide out drive bays to add storage. Slide a simple bar to change up to four expansion cards at once. And with plenty of I/O ports both front and back, you’ll have room for all your external devices.

The new entry model of the Mac Pro starts out at $2,499.00 for a single quad-core Intel Xeon processor. More info is available at Apple’s Website.

Any takers?
